Our Services
Comprehensive Care for Every Child At Government Medical College,Gondia Our Pediatrics Department offers a full spectrum of services tailored to children’s unique needs. Our facilities and staff ensure exceptional care in a nurturing environment.
Inpatient Services:
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU): Our advanced PICU features state-of-the-art ventilators, continuous monitoring and point of care ultrasound facilty. Staffed 24/7 by dedicated doctors and nurses, it ensures rapid response for emergencies.
Pediatric Ward: Our child-friendly ward has colorful and attractive themes, designed to comfort young patients during therapy and recovery. Our staff are trained rigorously to adopt empathetic approach towards little patients and their families. Our team of medical social work superintendents add the edge to the services.
Yojnas and philanthropy: we ensure that the benefits of yojnas like Mahatma Jyotiba Phule jan arogya yojna, Ayushman Bharat yojna, rashtriy bal suraksha karykram etc are delivered to every eligible patient. In addition, we rope in philanthropic support for medicines, investigations, special diet etc.
Outpatient Services:
General Pediatric clinics for routine check-ups, growth monitoring, and immunization as per National immunization program. Specialty clinics for Pediatric cardiology, Nutrition, hemoglobinopathies and hemophilia, endocrinology, and more. Developmental assessments for early intervention in learning or behavioral challenges. The District Early Intervention Centre is the hub for multidisciplinary management of kids with neurological and developmental disorders and offers state of the art physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy etc.
Emergency Services:
24/7 pediatric emergency unit with rapid triage and access to PICU support. Specialized Programs: Vaccination drives adhering to [National/Regional] guidelines like pulse polio. Special vaccines for children with sickle cell Anemia and thalassemia, congenital heart disease and cystic fibrosis. Nutrition counseling to address obesity and malnutrition. Support groups for families of children with chronic illnesses.

Undergraduate Medical Education
Core rotations in Paediatrics for 150 MUHS students annually adhering to CBME curriculum as per NMC mandate.
Pediatric Residency:
A 3-year rigorous program with hands-on training in our PICU, wards, and clinics strictly as per CBME curriculum. We have an annual intake of 2 and have applied for 5 more seats.
Curriculum Highlights:
Weekly grand rounds, case discussions, and journal clubs. Bedside teaching in the PICU and wards, emphasizing real-world skills. Access to simulation labs for procedures like intubation and resuscitation.

Research Activities
Conducting ethical and high-quality research addressing significant gaps in our understanding of common diseases in children.
1) Prevalence of child care and disciplining practices in children aged 0-60 months: Survey of mothers in a tertiary care hospital in Gondia, Maharashtra
2) Newborn screening of Hemoglobinopathies, Congenital Adrenal hyperplasia and Congenital Hypothyroidism in Government Medical College A Tertiary Health Care Centre situated in Tribal Region of Central India

Advanced simulation center for hands-on practice. We have 10 state of the art simulators for hands on training in skills like intubation, iv line placement, CPR etc.

Resident Doctors of the Department and Medical Interns are posted in all these facilities on rotation basis.
